The Rose Garden of Love

Posted on November 21, 2013 | 2 comments

The seed was sown for this theme (literally) after a discussion with a bride who was making a big feature of roses on her big day - bouquets and petals galore! We decided to take this one step further for our research and found ourselves venturing into a romantic rose garden of love.

Formal or rambling, soft colours or bold, this theme offered so many options and so many ways of interpreting it. We took the timeless beauty of the rose and supersized it for effect. Opting for a soft palette of colours that flowed into each aspect of the day perfectly.

The dress is a total knock out from Anna Schimmel and really was the hero for this theme. Intricately designed, and the absolute attention to detail in each and every rose petal ensured this theme would not disappoint.

We thought very hard about which shoe we would love to pair with this amazing dress and of course we are always so conscious of heel heights at Trousseau that we couldn’t just offer up one option so have given a flat, Halle, for the bride who is already beautifully tall and the same height as her fiancé, for a mid range shoe it was hard to go past the classic Magnolia, but for the girl who is looking for some height to carry off the stunning train it was hard not to match this look with the Bedazzle.

As soon as we saw how this dress worked with the shoes the penny dropped and we knew that a previous Trousseau bride, who had dyed her shoes apple green for her big day, had the perfect picture for us of a dyed shoe option and a beautiful bouquet of cream roses. Thanks Angela and Evan for sharing!

We fell in love with the picture and camera angle Chris Dillon from Dillon Photography, captured in his real wedding of the perfect rose stems.

Then when we came across the beautiful table setting and roses it was a bit of a chill up the spine moment, styling and hire products by Flower Factory, photo by Revent, it really captured the look and feel we were going for.

The car colour had to fit perfectly and we were so happy when a bride recommended we check out Funny French Cars in Wanaka.  Their wedding car image was by far and away the most perfect fit we could have hoped for.

What is a rose themed wedding without confetti right? Perfectly packaged little bundles for guests displayed in theme. Check out – SUCH FUN!! (another great photo by

AND have you ever seen a more beautiful cake? Gosh we were really taken by this one from Paula Jane Cakes, its understated beauty just screams quality and deliciousness (if only we could taste it too!) - of course the beautiful decorative roses made out of icing made it perfect for this theme.

Finally, the crowning glory was diamonds..and what girl doesn't LOVE diamonds? Well have we found the most exquisite ring...From the very talented Petra Bettjeman Jewellery, comes this custom made yellow gold and palladium diamond engagement ring.

Over the next month or two we will bring you a selection of our themed moodboards and discuss the journey involved with each. If you are looking for a bit of inspiration, then these will be a MUST see – they will feature beautiful dresses, cakes, flowers, styling – you name it!

PS Feel free to send through different suggestions on themes you would like to see and we will select a few to play around with.
