A toast to the mums! Mother of the bride shoes

Posted on November 26, 2015 | 0 comments

Now as most of you brides are aware, sometimes just as much planning and preparation goes into what the mother of the bride or groom will wear, as what the bride does! It’s a momentous day for the mothers, one they feel immensely proud and excited to be involved in.  And although they know all eyes will be on the bride (deep down they often feel, one of the next females to be seen, maybe, just maybe them!!)

Hours of thinking and preparation go into this, pictures are cut out from magazines, colours are thought about and compared to wedding colour themes, styles of outfits and designers are researched and many, many outfits are tried on. All this to ensure the final choice is perfected for the big day.

Shoes are often a huge part of the Mother of the Bride attire, and Trousseau fits out a number of mothers every week and we LOVE the Mums!! Most of them come with a been there, done that attitude, they’ve been the bride before and they are excitable without the overall responsibility of a wedding.  They come to dress up and have a bit of fun.

So from us here at Trousseau, a tip for the brides – Take the time to share the ‘shoe part’ with your dear mum or mother in law, it can mean so much to them and is a really fun bonding experience for you both. Finish it off with a glass of champagne at the local bar and you’ve got the ultimate day!

A touch of gold

Posted on December 10, 2013 | 0 comments

A touch of gold was inspired by our beautiful Preston Shoe, it’s a fave of ours, fits brilliantly, looks divine and will suit many different wedding themes and situations. It truly is a shoe that can take you from wedding night, through to the next day (picture teamed with this gorgeous Juliette Hogan Dress!) and beyond.

We wanted to take the gold accents of the Preston and evolve them to the next level with this theme, all without being too ‘in your face’. We spoke to renowned New Zealand dress designer Anita Turner-Williams from Vinka Design about the type of dress that would work with these shoes – after browsing through many fabulous and suitable creations we all unanimously agreed on the Larissa, a gorgeous beaded flower lace gown with silk chiffon skirt. The colour tones in this dress, pick up beautifully the golden tones in the shoes and the back on this dress is to die for. Thanks to the talented Zahn Trotter from Perry Trotter Photography for this shot.

With a theme including gold, you had to feature a cake that was impressive as well as a work of art, after many websites were perused, the lovely Paula Jane Cakes came out on top again – we love you guys!

We wanted a really punchy bridesmaid dress, this shimmery number from Modes will delight the bridesmaids, as standalone it is a ‘wow’ dress for the wedding day, but it is also versatile enough for the girls to wear again to any formal occasion. Just what every bride wants for their gals!

Bunting, bunting, bunting...everyone knows bunting is the latest buzz word in wedding circles, Trousseau has introduced a selection of one off designs that will really make a statement! Carrying on our secondary theme of future use, one bride summed this up for us perfectly... “I can already see this in the nursery”

When you are on the lookout for wedding invites, we know that Times New Roman can start to look like Comic Sans, but rest assured the team at Freedom Wedding Stationary take the hard work out of it. These super cool invites, can really be tailored to suit you and your fiancé. Taking words from your favourite poem song or even wedding vows to create a unique invite – LOVE MUCH!? We do.

Finally, we stumbled upon our pièce de résistance One Lovely Day whilst doing our research on this theme, an event styling company that has worked their magic on some very special weddings. They are original and sure can think outside the box – Check them out! We have featured two of their images in our mood board,  of the beautiful table setting and also the striped straws in bottles – BUT believe us when we say we wanted to feature about 20 images (the boss said we had to restrain  ourselves!) PS – They even hire out a vintage caravan!

To Dye or not to Dye (wedding shoes) is that your question?

Posted on June 04, 2013 | 5 comments

This is where you are at, the wedding day is getting closer, you have the perfect dress, have sorted the bridesmaids and now you’ve found ‘THE SHOES’. They’re the right height, the right style, totally you, but are they the right colour?

Whether this is the predicament you find yourself in when it comes to dressing yourself or the wedding party, or it’s the post wedding ‘I really want to wear these expensive shoes again’. You are definitely not alone, as this is a very common situation, and dyeing wedding shoes both pre and post wedding is a popular choice for many brides.
